A Calming Community
The secure wing of the Blakely Care Center is staffed with caring professionals that offer stimulation, serenity and spirituality. We know that Alzheimer’s brings confusion and a sense of uneasiness, and our competent, caring staff works hard to dispel those feelings. It’s important to us that you know that we offer a social model of care, which means that we keep our residents as active and alert as possible, and not sedated.

Family style dining encourages interaction and familiar patterns of serving and eating meals. Residents are encouraged to help with the cooking and baking in our homelike kitchen, under caring supervision and lots of hugs.

Holding on to a Memory
Often adults with dementia remember vividly their youth. Anyone can relate to those fond memories in our ice cream parlor and on the porch swing, which is located on our inside front porch! Our residents enjoy the opportunity to experience the beauty and sounds of the outdoors, in a surrounded, safe and private area.

We nurture our residents with unlimited smiles, arts and crafts activities, and exercise. The piano is played often, and singing is just part of everyday life here at Blakely. We try to understand who each resident was in happier, healthier times, and offer special attention to decrease the fear and slow progression of dementia.

Blakely Care Center uses resources such as the Alzheimer’s Association (Northwest Ohio Chapter) and we are continually developing innovative programming based on the newest research to ensure a full life for our residents. Together, we offer training and support groups for caregivers and family members. We host Family Night, where education, concerns, and coping skills are addressed.
